Ceramic Beads are made from Clay all over the world, due to the easy accessibility of clay; these beads have been made for thousands of years, starting from the rough rudimentary pottery beads to top quality clay used in the finest porcelain.

Clay Terracotta Spindle Whorl Beads were originally made as weights in the spinning of cotton thread. Then they are used to adorn oneself, often mixing them with smaller ceramic or glass beads. They vary in design, often with engraved surface patterns, there are antiques, as well as modern beads as hand spinning of cotton and wool is still practised. Clay Spindle whorls are found mainly in Mali.
