The Sheba Collection

The Sheba Collection has been designed and made by Celeste & Lucy, who are the main designers of Yakanaka. The Beads used are mainly from Africa and have been hand-crafted, painted, moulded and various other traditional methods to produce beautiful results. The majority of these beads are hand made in remote African villages and reflect the culture and traditions of that particular tribe or persons.

Hand Made African Beads

Beads have been used in Africa for hundreds of years, they represented wealth, were easily transportable and traded for basic commodities to gold. Most traditional crafted beads have a meaning in their particular area and beads all over Africa are used to adorn people, from Chiefs, Medicine Men, Brides and your ordinary person.

Under the section Hand Made African Beads, you will be able to see in detail where each bead used in this Sheba collection is from and in some cases how it is made.
